Nicolas Perrin

Maison Nicolas Perrin is the encounter between two passionate and instinctive approaches to wine, built on savoir-faire and gained from years of experience in both regions of Cotes du Rhone.

In the south, Famille Perrin, owners of Chateau de Beaucastel, masters the art of blending and is in constant quest of the right balance between colour, freshness, body, richness and tannins. In the north, Nicolas Jaboulet, contributes with his knowledge of the terroirs, the soils and the winemakers. Climate, exposure, altitude, type of soil, age of the vines, all these are variable factors that make subtle changes to the wine and have to be understood in order to get the best out of each of them.

We produce wines from the Northern Rhone Valley. On these well known appellations like Ermitage, Cote Rotie, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Condrieu, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Peray, the ageing and blending depend on the diversity and complexity of the terroirs. If we were to describe the style of our wines in a few words, we could mention precision for the fruit and spice, elegance and softness for the tannins and depth and richness for the structure.

Nicolas Jaboulet

Nicolas Jaboulet of the renowned Rhone producer is set to release his first wine from a new joint venture with the Perrin family of Chateau Beaucastel.

This is Jaboulet’s first project since leaving the family firm Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné, which has been owned by the Frey family of Chateau La Lagune in Bordeaux since January 2006. He had worked as sales director at the company, whose wines include the iconic Hermitage La Chapelle. The only remaining family member in the original firm is now Frederic Jaboulet, France and Export director. The new venture see limited quantity wines released under the ‘Nicolas Jaboulet, Perrin Frères’ label.

They produce cuvées of 3-12,000 bottles, selected from parcels of vines across the key appellations of the northern Rhone, and then blended and bottled in the Perrin winery in Orange. The first wines is the 2007 vintage from Hermitage Rouge, Hermitage Blanc, Cote Rotie and Saint Joseph.
