Luke Whearty

It is quite rare in any industry to find someone who's passion is equally matched by their creativity, but this is exactly the case in regards to Luke. He has been well recognised for a number of years now to be at the forefront of forward thinking minds in the world of bartending. His experiences have seen him travel the world and preside over some of the most progressive drinking programs today.

Cutting his teeth at the internationally acclaimed Der Raum where Luke worked for a number of years as Head Bartender, during which the bar won multiple awards such as;

2010 - Winner - Cocktail Bar of The Year, Australian Bartender Awards
2011 - Winner - Cocktail List of The Year, Australian Bartender Awards
2012 - Ranked - No.1, Worlds Best Bars
2012 - The Age Good Bar Guide - 3 Glass Rating

Luke then made his move to South East Asia where he worked along side Chef Ryan Clift at the highly acclaimed Tippling Club before opening the newly established public house, Oxwell & Co with Chef Mark Sargeant in August of last year and more recently Operation Dagger.

Luke will be demonstrating the two opposite ends of the bartending spectrum at this years WGS, and provides an insight into his two ventures.
